A MESSAGE FROM THE AIRPORT MANAGER
Spring is sailing onward, and as the summer months begin to approach, Van Nuys Airport (VNY) is soaring.
Recent operations figures show a year-to-date increase of more than 20% as compared to 2017. Fuel sales continue to climb.

STUDENTS & AVIATION PROS CHART COURSE TO SUCCESS DURING JOB SHADOW DAY
On February 22nd, more than 70 students from Van Nuys High School and the North Valley Occupational Center (NVOC) Aviation Campus, which is located at Van Nuys Airport (VNY), were greeted by mentors from aviation-related airport businesses for an insightful and interactive program during VNY's Job Shadow Day. CLAY LACY CERTIFIED AS GREEN BUSINESS
In May, Clay Lacy Aviation announced that the company’s Van Nuys Airport headquarters and maintenance facility is now officially certified by The City of Los Angeles as a Green Business and member of the California Green Business Network. [ going green + ] |

VNY CONTROL TOWER REOPENS
Amid steady operational growth at VNY, the air traffic control tower renovation and refurbishment project that began in 2016 was completed earlier this year and will move operations from the airport’s smaller temporary facility back into the newly-upgraded tower.

NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR VNY'S ACE ACADEMY
Once again, Van Nuys Airport is hosting its annual Aviation Careers Education (ACE) Academy for interested middle and high school students. The summer educational program is open to all middle school and high school students with priority given to students in the neighboring areas of VNY. Students are selected to participate in the program based on their desire to learn about aviation. This weeklong motivational program is designed to educate students about airport operations at both VNY and Los Angeles International Airport, as well as career and technical opportunities in the aviation industry. ABOUT VAN NUYS AIRPORT
VNY is one of two airports owned and operated by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), a self-supporting branch of the City of Los Angeles, governed by a seven-member Board of Airport Commissioners who are appointed by the mayor and approved by the Los Angeles City Council. One of the world's busies general aviation airports, VNY serves as a valued San Fernando Valley resource, providing ongoing leadership in general aviation, business and community service. Dedicated to non-commercial air travel, VNY had over 230,000 operations in 2017. More than 100 businesses are located on the 730-acre airport, including four major fixed-base operators and numerous aviation service companies. Annually, the airport contributes approximately $2 billion to the Southern California economy and supports over 10,000 jobs.
